VeggieTales

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Hey Ladies,

I know it has been a while since my last post. I am living in a hotel with sketchy internet...at best. I hope to soon be able to get us all back on track.

Yesterday, I was watching Saturday Morning Cartoons with my two kids. They like this program called Qubo, that comes on NBC, ION, and Telemundo. Qubo, although, it is not explicitedly advertised, shows Christ-focused shows, like Larryboy and VeggieTales.

My kids, and my husband, love VeggieTales. It is a silly show, with lots of fun songs, jokes, and a Christian worldview. Like the movies, the series presents issues that kids can relate to, then provides a biblical solution.

In this latest episode, the story was about a creature that had a low self image. (Can any of us relate to that?) Basically, this creature looked a lot like a cute bug, it was small, blue and was born with tiny little wings and an art kit.

The bug-like creature assumed that because it was created with an art kit and wings that it could paint and fly. So, the creature painted a picture. The other creatures came along and teased him, saying his picture was inferior. They even painted a picture for him to remind him how horribly he painted. They cruelly stuck their picture in his backpack.

Later, the creature, assuming that wings meant he could fly, attempted to in front of the group. He failed miserably, and just to be mean, the other creatures teased him and painted him another picture of his failure.

He was dishearted and decided to leave the community that ridiculed him so much. Before he had gone very far, he tripped in some mud, which was observed by another creature, who painted yet another humiliating picture and added it to the creatures pack. His load was growing very heavy.

The creature felt worse than before and retreated to the hills. He began to climb a mountain. He climbed and climbed, and soon enough he had reached the top.

When he reached the top, he heard a voice. At first, he thought it might have been his own. But it was the voice of another creature, a giant. The giant was nice and spoke with a kindness that was new to the creature. Because the creature had been mistreated by all he had ever known, he was dishearted and offered to leave. But the giant was happy to have a visitor and insisted that he stay.

The giant asked why he was so down. The creature recounted the stories of how he had failed and been humilitated with all the paintings he was carrying. The giant asked to see the paintings.

The giant glanced at the paintings and threw them into the fireplace, where they were destroyed. Then the giant presented the creature with another painting. This painting depicted the blue creature looking happy and strong and soaring inthe sky.

The buglike creature was puzzled and asked, 'Is that supposed to be me?'

The giant said, 'This is you. This is how I see you.'

The creature asked, 'How can this be me?'

The giant answered, 'Because I created you!'

The bug-like creature asked how would he ever be able to fly. The giant smiled and said, 'You already are." The creature had not even noticed, he was floating one inch of the ground.

I know that was a simple story, but it really warmed my heart and encouraged me. How many times have we allowed people to define who we are? How many times have we listened to the lies that tell us we are not good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, holy enough???

Ladies, present the lies that are written on your heart to the Lord. He will cast them into the fire. He created you and his word says you are "wonderfully made." He has a beautiful vision of you, in all your God-given potential.

Ask God to reveal His plan for you to you. Accept that He has something wonderful in store for your life. He does...He created you!
