Today's Proverb (Proverb 28)

Proverbs 28

These are my thoughs and questions on a few of the verses of the Proverb of the day.

1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

I like this verse because wicked people don’t stick around for the truth, and they will disappear in a heartbeat.

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

No one can lie to God. There is no possible way! In Acts 5:1-11; there was a husband (Ananias) and wife (Sapphira) who were attempting to become believers. They sold a piece of their property and went to give the money to the apostles. However, they only gave a portion of the money to the apostles. Peter knowing that (from the spirit) Ananias was holding back, told him basically that he was not lying to man, he was lying to God. And Ananias died instantly after he heard this. Then Peter called in Ananias’ wife Sapphira. Sapphira, unaware of her husband’s fate, was questioned by Peter about how much they received for their property. Sapphira, still clueless, lied about the money has well. And she suffered the same fate as her husband. Bottom line, you cannot hide anything from God. A lie is a lie and usually leads to more lying. Lying is something I believe most people have a problem with. I do not know one person who can say they have never told a lie. Whether it is being dishonest about where you actually are to someone who asks. Or when a stranger asks you for money and you say you do not have any. Those are things we need to work on.

We need to talk to God about our sins. Try him; he won’t stop loving us because we have issues. God please continue to bless us. Please Lord; continue to have mercy on us for sins. In Jesus Holy Name I thank you Lord! Amen.

19 He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

Verse 19 – 20: Chasing fantasies? I have read this but have been wondering for sometime now, why does this verse stick out to me. I feel I am not doing anything wrong in this area. But I do play the lottery and have dreams of becoming a millionaire. I ask the question, am I wrong? I really need to know.
I feel it is bad when a person would do anything for the mighty dollar. I don’t want to ever be there.

22 A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him.

Why be stingy in the first place. If you have anything you have it because God allow you to have it in the first place. He let your mother meet your father so that your mother could give birth to you in a world the offers legalized abortions. Need I say more? God wants us to care enough about others to want to share. I am not saying never having anything of your own. But know when and how to give to others. How can the stingy expect to receive blessings if that cannot themselves be a blessing.

23 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.

Why not just tell someone the truth about your feelings. In the end you will feel better and they cannot do anything but respect your honesty (however you must tell the truth in a godly manner).

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

My comment to this verse is another Proverb, which I would like everyone to remember: (Proverbs 3:5-6) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”

  1. I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to you in verses 19 and 20. Chance happens to us all, but maybe we ought to invest our time, money and energies into more productive areas than a game of chance, i.e. the lottery.

We cannot manipulate a blessing out of God. Ask boldly for what you want, (those things you feel the lottery would bring you) and know that God can and will bless his child.

    Matthew 7:11 says:

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
